Merry Xmas everyone, this is going to be a jam packed news post. We are excited to announce that we are working on a serious political game for the Andrew Yang 2020, the US democratic presidential candidate and UBI advocate with some of the Balance team being #yanggang ourselves. As folks with game development backgrounds and , the goal was always to get back into game development at the end with our own Balance Game Studios and not only focus on game development exclusively but fund all development from cashflow. The Yang Game was a possibility even prior to the founding of Balance. However while fundraising to really cover the entire team and vision continues, this is something that can be executed at a low budget and fundable via small donations from the #yanggang. The immediate question will be if this is an official campaign project, for now it isn't BUT it is something Munly first reached out to the campaign about and talked with and continue to be in touch with several campaign staff as well as hardcore volunteers. We will first prove execution and deliver a short playable slice in a week or two and see where it goes from there
We are not starting entirely from scratch and will be modifying from an existing game - Shape of America which is provided with the blessing of indie developer Kuklam Studios who will also be at the very least consulting on the project. The trailer for the original release can be seen here and the game is still currently available on Steam.
We also had an issue with the VR headsets we just sent out that were shipped without controllers which was reported early by our US customers. We and Skyworth are incredibly mortified by this and Skyworth will be sending out controllers themselves individually + potentially a spare or two out to all customers affected.
Lastly I also want to include a roadmap from our pitch deck that will explain the full vision of where we'd like to go with Balance. As we pushed early revenue via sales of Skyworth VR to also make our partners happy with some early results, we over-emphasized the VR aspect to the point where most didnt actually know what we were and admittedly this is still currently not communicated well. This one slide hopefully does the trick :)
Lastly.. with everything we just announced, especially with the limited time frame left in the run up to the US presidential election, we *MAY* focus nearly exclusively on the Yang game project as there won't be another opportunity to do it in anywhere near as much of a relevant fashion and push off the gaming and the rest of the business until that's done. It will depend on whether we can raise capital to simultaneously do other things such as the the VR and partner sales which we both need to properly capitalize our own stock as well as distribution centers. None of us wanted you guys to wait as long as you had to for your headsets if we'd been able to fulfill the orders closer to you guys. A lot of this isn't rocket science, it just takes money and we cannot express how thankful we are for your patience and understanding so far
