It's been a long time since an update and there's good news and bad news. The good news is that we've picked up a new Thai partner who needs our help in acquiring the rights to a game for the Thai market to move into game publishing without any game industry knowledge or development experience but have a substantial budget to start things out with.
The MINIMUM offer would be $300k USD for an appropriate game going into the 7 figures if we're able to get something that's an obviously great fit or the market. In particular we've been asked to look or somethng like Ragnarok Online, a spiritual sequel if you will where that could be possible
Game Criteria
- Mobile is priority but we can consider PC also.
- Free-to-play with in-app transactions i.e. skins, booster packs
- AAA-lite / mobile version of console and PC gameplay. Not idle games.
- Action based games preferred over strategy and games that reward "theorycrafting"
- Story-lite, for the first game the less we need to localize the better
The Thai game market is roughly 70% mobile and 20% PC so any game we consider needs to be mobile first, PC / Steam is ok but it must be a multplayer or potentially an esports type game. We are primarily looking for a f2p game with in-app transactions. What's worked in their market to date has been things like shooters, MOBA's, MMO's and esports type games and they're looking to keep pretty close to that. Games with an art style that is similar to anime or again.. somethng like Ragnarok are what they're lookng for mainly... however...
Most will not know about the Thai market but most people cannot afford consoles or PC with the PS4/5 seeing fairly limited release overall as well as for game releases. Therefore the games that we need have to be actual games that can be played and not click-and-wait/"idle" games. Western markets can be happy with idle games since real gaming can happen on PC or console but that's not the case in Thailand or Asia generally, these are mobile first or mobile only markets. The mobile game has to be "AAA light" and a replacement for PC or console gaming as much as possible. Ideally the game is equally playable on both mobile and PC. Strategy/tactical games are fairly niche in Thailand.
We'll also update our pages to reflect that support should be done within our own Discord vs email
The bad news that our community regulars know things have been in limbo ever since we recieved the investment offer from the Netherlands which hasn't worked out. It's been a harsh lesson to not entertain anyone who is not investing primarily because of gaming in the future.
That's the quick and exciting update (for now anyway)
